A Digital Signature certificate form replaces the traditional form of a handwritten signature and it is necessary for Companies and limited liability partnerships (LLPs) to sign and file returns in the GST common portal whereas DSC for GST is not made mandatory for other taxpayers. Only class 3 Digital signature certificate is required that has a validity of 2 years as recently the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) has discontinued new issue of Class 2 DSC w.e.f 1st January, 2021.
